Gymworld Gymnastics Club is proud to be one of the longest-standing gymnastics clubs in Teesside, with a rich history rooted in excellence, community spirit, and inclusivity. Founded by John and Dorothy Atkinson, Gymworld has grown from humble beginnings into a thriving club offering gymnastics opportunities for all ages and abilities.

John Atkinson was a reknowned and respected International Performance Coach (IPC), known for his dedication to developing athletes to the very highest standards for over 50 years. Under his guidance, many Gymworld gymnasts went on to represent Great Britain at European and World Championships, helping to place the club on the map both nationally and internationally. After retiring in 2019, John’s passion for gymnastics and athlete development continues to inspire the club’s ethos today.

With a current coaching team bringing over 40 years of experience, Gymworld remains committed to providing expert training in a positive, nurturing environment. Our club is entirely run by volunteers, many of whom are former gymnasts, parents, and passionate community members—ensuring that every decision is made with the gymnasts’ best interests at heart.

At Gymworld, we believe that gymnastics should be accessible to all. That’s why we work hard to keep fees low and maintain an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere where every child, regardless of background or ability, has the chance to grow, achieve, and shine.
